While the Liberals and Nats are a coalition in much of the country, in Queensland they're a single, merged party, the Liberal National Party. It's now the only State where the federal LNP wins many seats, driven by a very rural population in Queensland and a lot of oldies retired along the coast there. Peter Dutton and before him Scott Morrison have had to try to speak to that constituency. It's highly conservative and reactionary, and has maybe terminally damaged their vote in NSW and Victoria. It may make the LNP unelectable as a federal government, with shifting demographics in the rest of the country. The current Dutton opposition to the Voice is another example, plays very well with rural Queenslanders and retirees on the Gold Coast. But terribly in much of the rest of the country. In the meantime the Murdoch press and talkback radio keep trying to push the LNP even further towards this very small set of beliefs, in Queensland. It's a recipe for the end of the Liberals. https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/politics/australian-politics/2023/04/11/julian-leeser-frontbench-voice/?utm_campaign=News%20Alert%20-%2020230411&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Adestra&lr_hash=
