I got AI to write a song, just out of interest. it took less than a minute, music and lyrics. It was a good song. My postgraduate work was about how fundamentally we misunderstand science and technology. The horror many if not most will feel about AI writing songs (or doing anything) is based on little more than tired old tropes about ‘warm’ human reality versus ‘cold’ machines. Like a rerun of a Terminator movie. If you see machines and humans as two separate things facing off against each other, you’re already lost in terms of understanding anything. The world needs a shit-tonne more AI, and a shit-tonne less social media. A technology based on knowing, rather than on social interaction.
