At the origin of every modern civilisation is always one book. Ideas are what civilisations are literally made of - all of their most important shaping beliefs will come from that one book. For our civilisation, it’s unquestionably the Bible. In this way I’m religious, though I don’t attend nor belong to any church. Pick any public issue even today and you’ll find the underlying ideas lead back to the Bible in some way.
