The thing most populations now are completely addicted to, social media, is destroying their societies as they use it. This Lithgow experience is shared by councils everywhere. If you think ‘attack’ is too strong a word, come work at a Council for a day. It’s an escalating all-out assault on public institutions. Incoherent rage and righteousness. Which cynical local politicians say is ‘the voice of the people’. It’s nothing of the sort, it’s gangs of thugs mobilised via social media.
