I look at the holiday photos and social events people post to FB, where nobody is taking any precautions against Covid infection. And two things jump out at me. 1) So many seem to think only of risk to themselves, and not of the risk they present to the entire community by allowing Covid to continue to spread, by their actions. People don't think that even if they get a 'mild' case, spreading it to others can kill them or leave them with lifelong disability. 2) I remember HIV, where people were actually charged for knowingly risking the spread of the virus through unprotected sex. Even as recently as 2013 this was still being done, see the news story. And yet so much of the community is out there every weekend and holidays, blatantly refusing to do a single thing to stop the spread of Covid. I think we need to look hard in the mirror at what we've become. About 8000 people have died of HIV in Australia in the past 40 years. We killed more than twice as many with Covid in 2022 alone.
