In Asia some countries have already started 4-day weeks and widespread work from home for professional jobs, to ration fuel. Unlike under Covid, where we decided to open up everything again and just all get infected with Covid all the time, without fuel pretty much nothing can function. There won’t be any choice in it. Societies only change meaningfully when facing catastrophe. We’re arriving there now, after 30 years of having our heads up our arses. Australia should be a renewable energy superpower by now. Instead we’re languishing near the bottom of the pack, completely exposed, and utterly dependent on foreign fuel imports.
