The new Western Sydney international airport will be open as early as 2026. Had a look at the flight paths today, some of which will go right over the Blue Mountains and Lithgow. And unlike Kingsford Smith, it’ll be open 24 hours a day, so flights day and night. Thankfully for Lithgow, planes will already be at 20,000ft+ by the time they arrive over here, but the lower Blue Mountins could be in for interesting times.
