The untold story of this distribution of global energy is the efficiencies. Say this pie chart was in kg instead of percentages. So 100kg of energy used by the globe, and 64.2 kg of that energy comes from fossil fuels. But fossil fuels burn with only 10-20% efficiency. So over 600kg of fossil fuels was needed to produce that 64.2 kg of energy. The just over 25% of renewables needed only about 30kg of fuel. We don’t need to replace that 600kg, with renewables. We only need to replace the 64.2 kg.
