Sharing my experience, an update on just laying on the floor a couple of times a day and observing how my body reacts. I’ve had a handful of niggling problems in the last few years, pains in the shoulders and neck, some sciatica, a sore hip and knee on the right hand side. I spent those years doing all the traditional physio and other bodywork things to try to ‘fix’ those things, with limited success. By laying on the floor I’ve realised what I sort of knew, that these aren’t separate problems, they’re all the same thing. My body has been twisted slightly, through the torques of everyday life, and laying on the floor has started to untwist my body from bottom to top, and all of these problems acquired from earlier life are disappearing. Your body is all connected, and also connected to what’s around you. Laying on the floor allows you to feel the patterns, the connections directly, between the different parts of your body but also of the body and the planet. And at the same time by shifting your relationship to the Earth by 90 degrees, it automatically unwinds you. I see it as a daily re-grounding, getting back to the Earth and rediscovering all the patterns. Then taking them into my upright life, where simple, gentle attention to what I’m doing stops adding new torques to my body.
