Out of interest I rang the local Mitsubishi dealer to ask what the waiting time is now on the Outlander hybrid. 13 to 14 months. The reason for this (which the salesperson didn't tell me, but I already knew) is interesting. 1) Worldwide there's still a shortage of semiconductor chips, which are in everything now. Covid caused this shortage. This is also why there's so much international angst over Taiwan - they make most of the world's semiconductors. 2) The initial release of this car in Australia was swamped by fleet buyers, who are trying to electrify their fleets. They know what the petrol and diesel-heads still refuse to accept, that EVs are far superior technology, and are much, much cheaper to own and run. I'll probably buy one of these, and at the end of its life use it as a home battery for my solar panels. Almost twice the capacity of a Tesla Powerwall home battery, and can be used all through the life of the car as the power source for your home.
