Normally translation is used to mean converting a message into another language. But one of the neatest things I learned from a range of people is that all messages are translations, even in the same language. The meaning of a message is always what the receiver thinks it is. And it gets even more interesting, because meanings can be translated into objects too. Like ‘slow down’, which can be translated into a speed bump. Once you know that, the whole world reads like a book.
