A scholar, courtesy of Rembrandt. Scholars are the tradies of ideas. Ideas are the literal building block of our lives and societies. Everything you do, think and feel is based on some idea. Unis now compete for students, because governments make them, like trained poodles. Their management see themselves as 'competing' for students, like they're selling washing powder. Students are not actually important to the mission of a university. Scholarship is the only reason universities really exist, society's way of creating and taming ideas. If you look at the lunatic ideas currently in circulation in society, you'll get a good idea of how much universities have been damaged.
