We stopped fighting a pandemic because it got in the way of our social lives. Many restrospectives are being written now about how this pause to our social lives apparently damaged us in terrible ways. (This is classic kidult culture.) Sociality itself is intrinsically violent. This thing we worship above all else is also what creates violence and chaos. Anybody who deals with groups of diverse people knows this, that ‘control’ is always needed. Now that social media, which is sociality on steroids, is the space we actually live inside, the world is becoming increasingly violent and chaotic. QED. Sociality is the fight for status.
