The brute fact our countercultural revolution societies don't want to accept is that hierarchy is not only inevitable, but is also the way societies evolved to suppress violence. The true function of hierarchy isn't 'power' and control, for those at the top. It's to suppress rivalries for status, which is what produces violence. All parts of a hierarchy are necessary and benefit. This is why history is dominated by monarchies. People didn't choose that form, it was the survivor, the only form that kept at least some people alive. The more equal you make societies, the more violent they become, because everybody fights for the absent status. This is what social media 'identity' culture is - the fight for an absent status. Status = identity, for social animals.
