Companies are fighting for the opportunity to install solar farms and batteries. They know it's a licence to print money. Our area (Bathurst-Lithgow) is highly prized because it's near existing high-voltage transmission lines, from the old power stations. Makes it easy and cheap to export the electricity to the grid. Some of these projects are hundreds of millions of dollars of investment. And a common response? Local yokels with embarrassing made-up facts they get off social media, like how the panels will be too 'shiny' (no panel is shiny, it's a waste of the sunlight). And that this will wreck 'good agricultural land', land that's usually already highly degraded, and the panels will actually protect. It's often the first time stock and soil on this land has had shelter in generations. https://reneweconomy.com.au/location-location-battery-storage-projects-jostle-for-position-to-back-up-wind-and-solar/
