I found this story powerfully symptomatic of the times we’re now living in. The total collapse of a ‘public’ anything. People stripping power cables from streets, to sell the copper. Just outrageous, like living in Sierra Leone. Public health and education are in the toilet. Public roads get no funding so are falling apart. There’s zero public housing. Etc. All of this happens when you substitute an ‘economy’ for a society.
