What’s happening with Covid right now in the UK is so important to help people understand the mess we’re in. That 10 months of relatively low Covid low levels wasn’t interrupted by a new Covid variant. There is no new variant there. It’s the collapse in immunity in ordinary people that has caused the new surge. Mostly because the UK deliberately restricted access to Covid vaccines. Catching Covid will not give you immunity to it. It will make it *more* likely you’ll catch it again, and again and again. Each time doing more damage to your body and immune system. (It will also make you more sick with other infectious diseases, because of damage to your immune system.) You don’t build up lasting immunity to Covid with each infection. It’s not measles. And I’ve shaded in green the critical thing to understand here. Unlike flu ‘waves’, also shown here, which go back to more or less zero infections in the community between waves (look at the graph), Covid is now permanently infecting everybody. It’s now like the tide, going in and out, not waves. It’s always there, everywhere - the green. It was there even in those 10 months in the UK. It’s nothing like the flu, which has seasonal surges and then more or less disappears. Covid will NEVER be like that, if we don’t control it. Governments tell people we’re following a ‘hybrid immunity’ strategy for Covid. That’s bullshit. Hybrid immunity means some infection + some vaccination, to build up immunity in the population. They’re WITHDRAWING vaccines from the wider community, as in the UK. And most aren’t bothering getting them anyway. It’s just infection now, not hybrid anything. It’s a LIE. Even IF we were actually doing hybrid immunity as a strategy, it wouldn’t work. Covid vaccines *don’t prevent infection*, they’re not designed to. The only way to fix this Covid disaster is to control the spread of the infection, to NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO BECOME INFECTED. That’s called public health. Like public education, public transport, and public energy, that’s now dead because of decades of bullshit about us apparently living in an ‘economy’, in ‘markets’. Our Covid strategy is just the privatisation of public health, that is literally all that’s happening. You are being asked to fix the pandemic yourself, individually. Like asking people to look after their own sewage or build their own roads. It can’t be done. It’s not a strategy, it’s no strategy.
