After decades of blaming fat people for being lazy gluttons, spurred on by the pseudoscientific bollocks of ‘calories’ by the nutrition and fitness industries, the WHO has declared obesity an actual medical condition, and endorsed widespread use of new GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. At the same time it and governments are targeting affordability of these drugs. Patents expire very soon. The flow-on health effects go well beyond weight loss, into areas like cardiovascular health, effective treatment of long-term chronic infection conditions, and potentially even neurological health. A genuine revolution in health. Now if only we’d tackle infection again, and dump the idiot ‘living with infection’ nonsense.
