I saw an interview with David Bowie, where he said The Velvet Underground were a much more important band than The Beatles. I dunno, every Velvet Underground track I’ve ever heard sounds like rubbish. Lou Reed seems a bit of a wanker. And then I thought, who bloody cares anyway, as an adult? Favourite bands is teenage identity politics. The hierarchy of cool is one of the nastiest and most tedious parts of human life.
