Have any of my friends in 'bodywork' traditions ever seen anything on the benefits of sitting with legs wide apart? On a chair I mean. To me it seems to activate a lot of the musculature around the hips, torso and buttocks a lot better than sitting with legs straight forward. To me sitting in the traditional way almost forces a tightening around that mid-body, because the legs are doing almost nothing. But if you widen them considerably, as people do when sitting backwards on a chair, it feels a lot more supportive, with your support distributed better across a much wider range of active muscles.
