One of the things I liked about Nanette was Gadsby's intelligent refusal to be shoehorned into any category, of 'her people'. She saw that as just another way to sideline and harass people, even if well intentioned. She wanted people to be treated for who they are, individually. And yet...I feel she's doing this a bit herself now. Big generic words like 'misogyny', and frequent reference to 'men' as a homogeneous group. Of course misogyny is real, but to just bandy it about as a catch-all phrase isn't progress, I don't think. Those big generic concepts feel good in an activist sort of "yeh!" fists in the air sort of way, but to me they're the same thing she criticises in the treatment she's received from others over the years. It's flipping the same behaviour in the other direction? https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2018/12/06/hannah-gadsby-good-men-monologue-misogyny-hollywood/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.f9d24baf4e08
