Ryan is a professor of evolutionary biology. I think these are interesting for people to see, because he’s addressing two pieces of propaganda in this pandemic. One that just letting ourselves become infected over and over will make Covid more mild, as we ‘build our immunity’. (Absolutely false.) The other being that ‘humans have always lived with respiratory viruses’. Also absolutely false. They arrived when we started living in buildings, not very long ago in evolutionary terms. We have no evolved resistance to them. Unlike bats.
