This is one of populism’s tricks. To identify expertise in society, call it an ‘elite’, and then rally ‘the people’ against this expertise. The actual elites in society are the rich, like Murdoch, or Trump. Who pretend to be the champions of ‘the people’, against ‘the elites’. All it does is shift control of society from expertise, to the rich.
