Lots of ridiculous talk about arson in the bushfires. But there is another type of arson - social arson. People deliberately trying to inflame social relationships in society. Shock jocks are social arsonists. In the olden days they’d have been called whingers. Now Australia pays them multi-million dollar salaries to whinge 24 hours a day, lighting social fires repeatedly. Why do we allow this? I think because they speak for the cranky old man and woman demographic, the largest in society.
