A global map of the internet. I've been driving my family mad excitedly watching the NBN being installed in our street. You see, for me, what holds the world together isn't politics, or love. It's technology. That fibre being put in the ground outside my house is connecting us to the world. How could it get any more exciting than that? It's not just that I'll now be able to 'see' the rest of the world better. Technology bonds people together. When trains and roads first come to a town, the people who live there literally become connected to the rest of the world. The goods and services create ongoing contractual links with the rest of the world. With the internet, those connections go even further. The internet is what weaves humanity together, it creates bonds much more than it distributes information.
