Victor has been in the news a lot lately. Sure indigenous burning was a lot more sophisticated than what we do, I’m all for this. But at the same time we need to question whether that burning is actually what turned Australia into a pile of kindling soaked in petrol. Those thousands of years using fire to shape the landscape turned it into a firescape. We should put water first in our thinking, not fire. That will also mean growing a lot more plants and a lot more different kinds of plants.
