We’re born alone. We live alone. We die alone. Friendship and love along the way don’t change that, we are fundamentally alone with our friends and with our lovers too (entering friendship and love from within that absolute alone-ness enriches them beyond measure). Rather than seeing that as a negative message, maybe it’s the explanation for the epidemic of ‘loneliness’. We don’t know how to be alone, and it infects everything, including friendships and love, which become co-dependencies.
