Anti-consumerism to me attacks all the wrong things. Our 'material' well-being is the most human part of us, and the way we are woven into the fabric of the world. I think the rejection of it is part of a wide escape to fantasy, ideals and metaphysics, to avoid the complexities of modern life. Societies that run on ideals end in the blood of millions, materialistic societies are always peaceful.
