Here’s another little trick the economy cult play on us. Government debt. Two simple graphs here. You can see government spending doesn't vary much from year to year, and in fact it’s trending down. What caused growing debt is cuts to revenue - tax. Overwhelmingly cuts to taxes for the wealthy. The economy cult want you to believe government debt is caused by too much spending, because they can then re-route that money to even more tax cuts for themselves. Meanwhile the government services you paid for, through your taxes, now have to be paid out of your own pocket, while your taxes flow into the pockets of the donors to the parties who cut spending.
