Teaching the kids to drive, and they sometimes ask about manual gearboxes, and whether they should learn how to drive them. I always say no, because when the national vehicle fleet transfers to electric in the next decade, cars won’t have any gears at all, manual or automatic. It’s about as important a mass skill now as knowing how to ride a horse.
