One of those interesting flipped chicken and egg things. Clothes weren’t invented for modesty, modesty was invented by clothes. Every invention at the same time invents its opposite. Before clothes there was no such thing as nudity. With clothes nudity suddenly became a thing - the opposite of clothes. Comparing these photos, notice how ‘cleavage’ is an invention of clothes, without clothes it doesn’t exist.
