An example from real life of how the fundamental connection between all the different parts of our bodies is rarely touched by medicine nor understood more widely. This is the Temproromandibular joint (TMJ), at the top of your jaw, I’m told the most complicated joint in your body. If it plays up, it wreaks havoc on your body in multiple ways, as any sufferers of TMJ dysfunction (like me) know. My own example. I had incredibly tight hips, torso, neck and shoulders. I saw a physio multiple times about this, thinking there must be some functional injury as I never had tightness before. Every time the advice was the same - stretching and strengthening, of the tight bits. Hip stretches, shoulder and neck stretches etc. None of it ever worked. The moment I did some simple TMJ exercises to relieve the problems there, all of the tightening everywhere else in me disappeared. In a day.
