Exactly! We always talk about love (but can’t define it except as something else), and are terrified of desire, which is hardly talked about at all. What scares me in the MeToo debate is its generally absolutely hopeless or even absent understanding of desire. As Perel says, we denounce of a day what we imagine and do at night. We’re terrified of desire, and so we don’t try to understand it.
