The Caribbean, a primary source of slaves in our early empires and therefore of our wealth today, is the most touristed place in the world. 80% of the income from that tourism leaves the Caribbean. The same for the Pacific Islands in our regions, where Australian farmers in the 1800s stole over 60,000 people, as slaves to work on their farms. They’re still doing it, they just call it ‘labour hire’ now.
