I have the semi-autonomous functionality turned on in our car for nearly all the driving I do. You’d be mad not to. Many drivers I see out there on the roads aren’t safe, I’d much rather those cars were driving more than the idiots behind the wheels. Humans vastly over-rate their abilities. Just as they don’t let pilots fly planes much or train drivers do much of the train driving, even though both are highly skilled. It’s not about skill, it’s about not being as good as a machine at being relentlessly on-task.
