Maybe people can help me understand the appeal of Instagram. I’ve tried it a few times, and each time it seems to be the things I like least about social media - looking at other peoples’ pictures detailing their day, like I’m stuck at a slide night of their last holiday - magnified by 10. What am I missing? I know it’s probably miserable old bastard territory to say it, but I’m almost completely disinterested in other peoples’ personal lives. I don’t inflict most of my personal life on them through social media, for that same reason. (I actually don’t think people are all that interested in others’ lives, I think it’s a social comparison process, curation of a social identity, but that’s another topic.)
