How well do you really understand the town you live in? Victoria right now is looking for a ‘sovcit’ (sovereign citizen) who murdered two police officers. Lithgow has already had a sovcit siege. The ‘March for Australia’ today is a neo-Nazi rally. This is the distinction between ‘horizontal’ and ‘vertical’ communities I posted about before. Horizontal communities are the people who live in the same geographical area as you, like the town of Bathurst. We still assume that’s our ‘community’. That’s a terrible mistake, with the growth of social media. Now people find community in their online groups, connected to people all over the world. Sovcit movements for example are mostly generated in the US, and vacuum up the gullible in other countries, online. The town where the recent Victorian shootings happened has seen older ‘horizontal’ residents saying sovcits aren’t welcome. They were then abused by the newer ‘vertical’ sovcits. Figure it Out Bathurst, the movement that has dominated Bathurst governance in the past 2-3 years, is another vertical community, based in the international Trump movement. I encourage everybody to be aware of these changes. Bathurst also has sovcits, and Council is regularly abused by them and other vertical communities.
