As individuals, we know how much we hate when our own beliefs don’t align. That’s laying awake at night territory, trying to make sense of our lives. We like our lives to be governed by a small number of powerful, consistent beliefs. Society is exactly the same - it is us. Because our beliefs don’t align right now, populists try to unify them with anger mostly. They are the Emperor, literally. We won’t fix things unless we tackle the beliefs - the ideas. Thinking is our only way out. We hate thinking.
