Story on the telly last night about arranged marriages. The idea horrifies a lot of people, but it made me think about whether the idea we personally choose the relationships we have is accurate in the first place? How many of our adult friends are people we met because they’re the parents of our kids’ friends? Our kids arrange a lot of our friendships. And how many of our other friendships were arranged by the fact we went to school with people, or work with them? When you look at it, only very few of of the relationships in our lives are things we personally organised.
