We were a bit slow getting to this show. I always thought the Lord of the Rings (the books and films) story began when all the most interesting stuff had already happened. The fight against Sauron when at his most powerful. This series tells that story, a prequel. It was a bit slow to start, but wham, once it gets going, it pushes you back in your seat. Great writing, amazing special effects (the most expensive TV show ever made).
