For the first 25 years of motoring in the UK, there were no petrol pumps. People had to buy fuel in 2-gallon cans from retailers, lug it home and fill the car. I mention this because often electric cars are criticised for taking longer to ‘fill’ than petrol cars. But it took decades for filling a petrol/disease vehicle to be a fast process. Fast chargers for electrics can already fully charge an electric car in 8 minutes, after only a handful of years of development. Also electrics are designed for continuous ‘top-up’ charging, rather than running them empty like a petrol or diesel car before filling. It continues to amaze me the excuses that are made to stick to a status quo that is costing people a fortune, making their air filthy to breathe and sending tens of billions of dollars offshore every year to oil producing countries, whose leaders drive cars made out of solid gold.
