When we see chaos in politics, I think we’re looking in a mirror. There is no ‘sensible centre’ just waiting for somebody to lead them. Politicians are us, government is us. The more we withdraw from and don’t debate the issues of the day amongst ourselves, the more they build up pressure, which has to be relieved somewhere. In parliament, that’s its job, to argue, not to be nice. I think we’re enormous hypocrites, it’s our own refusal to discuss difficult things we’re seeing in that mirror, when we see chaos in government. The more we want to live lives free of argument and politics, with just leisure and a few drinks and some sport and concerts etc., the more I think we have to offload all of our shit on somebody else to sort out for us. It has to be done somewhere.
