Record crowds go to everything now. An increasing shift in the culture towards trending, viral behaviour. The desire to 𝒃𝒆 π’˜π’‰π’†π’“π’† 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆. The loss of shared meanings and stabilised hierarchies through social media culture, the endless fights for status and identity, drive this shift. We’re replacing this loss with shared presence. You don’t need to agree to be part of a crowd. You can 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 togetherness while agreeing on nothing. We get relief from the endless fighting for status by creating crowds where everybody is the same rank. Also why adolescents in our time have liked partying and similar events. It gives them a break from the relentless β€˜peer pressure’ world of social comparison, in school. The crowd dissolves that tension. All of adult life is that now too.
