For me our fundamental misunderstanding of what love is is shown by how we see jealousy as a negative. When it’s actually the root of all love. The only healthy part of love in fact, the part that remembers that the person we love is an other. That recognises that their love for *us* is a choice we don’t make. How some react to jealousy is why it gets such bad press. It’s not jealousy that causes that reaction, it’s their misunderstanding of it. Their partner always chooses them, no matter how long they’re together, and they can’t control why. There is a happy jealousy, in fact, once you understand it. It’s what made you desire the person in the first place. They seemed a mystery.
