Somebody at work today asked why, if I’ve now had Covid, I just don’t get rid of the mask? The sort of question I’ve had for years. What’s revealed by these questions is that peoples’ assessment of what they should do is ENTIRELY based on ‘what everybody else is doing’. It’s peer pressure, their assessment of risk and even reality is all just their imitation of the behaviour of others. Jeff is a scholar in biomedical science of international renown. I’m going to listen to him every day of the week over people whose ‘knowledge’ of the world is their read of what’s currently trending in their social groups. I’m not in Year 9. They have no idea of the damage they’re doing to themselves.
