Have now seen the movie. Thought it was great, verged on telemovie in a couple of spots, but it was Queen doing what it knows how to do better than anybody - appealing to the widest possible audience, and entertaining every last one of them. That is, seriously I think, the mark of true genius. Anybody can play to an in-crowd, appealing to everybody is only for the true greats. Watching it reminded me of criticism of some fans and critics about historical inaccuracies in some of the story. But I think they miss the point - many of Shakespeare's historical plays are not 100% historically accurate either, for example. When you write a story (or film), you want to portray the essence of something, even if it means having to re-work the actual timeline of events. That's what they did.
