Venice is probably the only major city in the world that can still let you experience what cities were like, before the internal combustion engine. More than anything else, what I noticed in Venice was the quiet. We’re so used to the terrible racket of even our towns now, let alone our cities, that we don’t even realise or often think about a life without noise. It’s heaven. https://youtu.be/K5ZOVriDjy0
