China has 25,000km of high speed rail services. Let that sink in. My bet is the country that commits to building things will win, over the country that commits to cutting taxes. The Anglo countries live a fantasy that by cutting taxes, people will rush out and build us great things, like high speed rail. We’re all still waiting. What those tax cuts usually buy is floating super palaces which a handful of people navigate around the Bahamas. Meanwhile we all sit in our little individual cars, gridlocked. It’s a beautiful contrast of the two societies.
