Tesla say they’re very close to releasing full self-driving. The important thing here isn’t fully autonomous driving, it’s that the push for it is delivering amazing driver-assistance technologies, even if it’s not 100% self-driving. Cars you can buy today already will steer, brake and accelerate for you, dodge pedestrians, read speed limit signs, etc. It’s all already happening. And we’ll all be much safer for it, human drivers are no match for machines in the basics of driving.
