4 million Australians already have solar panels. Under Peter Dutton’s nuclear plan these panels would be forcibly switched off on many days by the grid operators, to protect the planned nuclear power stations, which can’t be turned on and off quickly. Meaning most of those 4 million owners of solar panels would be forced to buy electricity from the grid instead, on those days, at huge price.
